Is It Safe God? Are They Safe God? Is That You God?
This is just going to be a short ramble about safety. I don't claim to have the answers, but I do claim to ramble! But, if you've struggle with fear for a good portion of your life like me, than the topic of safety is important to you! Is that a person with whom I can safely share my struggle? Is that a group with whom I can safely hang out and be real? Is is safe for me to share what's on my mind? Or on a different note, is that a place where I'll be physically safe living? Is it safe anywhere??
The only safe place to be is in the center of God's will. That is why it is super comforting to pray this verse, as Paul prayed it for the church in Colossae:
"we have not stopped praying for you. We continually ask God to fill you with the knowledge of his will through all the wisdom and understanding that the Spirit gives," Colossians 1:9a
It is far more dangerous to stay tucked away behind locked doors, than to live where you assume you may be rejected! Hard to wrap my brain around that, but it's true! That is why I started this blog! I hesitated for a super long time! But finally I KNEW it was God's time for me to share and give hope to someone who may feel alone in their struggle with anxiety.
I've prayed Colossians chapter 1 over my family and friends and kid's friends for years! I am convinced deep in my spirit that I would rather be uncomfortable in HIS WILL, than comfortable outside HIS WILL.
My daughter and her friend were recently sharing to a group about their summer in Honduras. It was sweet to hear them reiterate this truth. They said that even though there are many dangers in Honduras, in some ways they felt safer in Honduras than on their college campus. Why? It's a different answer for each of us. God's will is different for each of us. The thing that scares one of us is completely different than the next person. One thing I know for sure,
"Fear of man will prove to be a snare, but whoever trusts in the LORD is kept safe." Proverbs 29:25
So I am not saying to rush out and be vulnerable when you are not sure if the people you are sharing with are safe. But I am saying, that if God moves you in your spirit to do something, keep asking Him. He will guide you with the Holy Spirit. Sometimes you know it's God will when the situation that you are called to embrace still feels scary. Somehow you just keep feeling Him tug you there! Again, the reminder is that it's His grace that draws us, and it's His grace that leads us.
I'll end with Psalm 27:4
"One thing I ask from the LORD, this only do I seek: that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to gaze on the beauty of the LORD and to seek him in his temple."
We can do that right now, right here. But by HIS grace we can all get there! If you need help, don't be afraid to ask. Go to a friend who will pray with you. Seek further help when needed. Say what you need to say! I heard those words from a secular song by John Mayer. I don't usually move off of my worship play list, but when I heard this song, I really needed to hear it! I can' t help but put it into my Father in Heaven belief system! If you need the nudge to step out for help, or to help someone, or whatever God is saying to you, talk to Him and ask Him, and "say what you need to say." ( Yes I know that was a massively long run on sentence...welcome to my brain!)

We have to let go of trying to please people. If we worry about what other's think, we will most likely do things that we would rather not do! But how precious are the words "whoever trusts in the LORD is kept safe!" It all depends on our GAZE. We must gaze on God and HIS glory! We must start there in prayer and praise every day. Every day! We can't coast...I can't coast! If you ride on the fumes of past quiet times, you will soon run out of gas!
So I am not saying to rush out and be vulnerable when you are not sure if the people you are sharing with are safe.
